South of France: Cannes Recap
24 HOURS IN CANNES
Finally, I’m in France! Upon my arrival in Cannes, my first impression was that the town was buzzing. It felt Vegas-y during to the Cannes Lions crowd, but with a continental flair. (Read: CROWDED). We walked down La Croisette for a quick lunch at the newly renovated Carlton Hotel, where we enjoyed dover sole and a much needed bottle of rose on their iconic outdoor patio. The hotel is beautifully decorated and in the perfect location, it’s definitely a top hotel to book if you’re visiting Cannes.
When my jetlag brain fog started to set in, we walked over to MediaLink Beach for a coffee pick me up. It was full of media industry execs, influencers, and brand types. After an accidental conversation with Patrick Schwarzenegger (without realizing who he was), I figured it was time for a nap.
For dinner, we went to Le Maschou. It’s a small, family-owned restaurant that’s hidden in Le Suquet (Cannes’ old town). Dinner was beyond. You must eat here when in Cannes. Wagyu grilled over an open fire, their iconic basket of fresh crudités, loaded baked potatoes with caviar, and such friendly service that makes you feel like you’re part of the family. Highly recommend, no notes. 10/10
The next day, I only had a a few hours left to spend in Cannes, but I made it count. I started the day with a leisurely stroll on Rue d’ Antibes with my excellent iced latte from Knot Bakehouse, then fit in a quick and successful shop at Isabel Marant on Rue de Belges. I definitely could have explored longer, but it was hot out and we had to catch a car to Saint-Tropez.
Overall, I wish I’d visited Cannes during a quieter season, but it was a fun 24 hours and the perfect intro to our South of France itinerary. Stay tuned for Saint-Tropez highlights!
